PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel efficiency of a platoon traveling group.SOLUTION: A platoon 10 is constituted of a head vehicle 2a, subsequent vehicles 2b and 2c arranged in order of smaller acceleration resistance from the head. The head vehicle 2a monitors the presence of a disturbance element such as road shape or speed change of a preceding vehicle 4 in front of the head vehicle and if there is a disturbance element, instructs the subsequent vehicles 2b and 2c to expand space between vehicles. Since the platoon 10 expands space between vehicles in a platoon when encountering the disturbance element, even if the speed of the head vehicle 2a rapidly changes due to the disturbance element, the speed change becomes gentler as going toward the rear of the platoon 10. In the platoon 10, a vehicle 2 having small acceleration resistance is arranged at a traveling position with abrupt speed change and a vehicle 2 having large acceleration resistance is arranged at a traveling position with gentle speed change, so that fuel efficiency can be improved as a whole of the platoon 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
