AUTOMATED FORMULATION OF OPTION CONTRACTS FOR SHARES

A method for automated formulation of option contracts between a client and promoter, both acting through a computer system. The promoter computer system (10) receives input data from the client computer system (24) over a network (22) including a listed entity identifier and a parcel size of the entity's shares. The promoter computer system (10), based on the current share value of the listed entity, generates quote amounts which relates to a future change in the share value. Client system inputs data to make a payment of a selected quote amount. A contemporaneous share value is obtained from an exchange computer system (18) for determining whether the share value is within an acceptable range. The output data is then contemporaneously generated to a financial institution computer system (14) specifying an option contract order for the share value, an exercise price, an expiry date and the parcel size.
