PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing cost and running cost of a sewage treatment apparatus using electrocoagulation treatment. SOLUTION: In a sewage treatment apparatus (1) where sewage (30) is stored in an electrocoagulation tank (3) having an electrolyzer (4) to undergo the electrocoagulation treatment using the electrolyzer (4) to remove waste in the sewage (30), a filter (6) communicates with the bottom of the electrocoagulation tank (3), and a drain pipe (13) communicates with the filter (6). The electrocoagulation treatment separates the sewage (30) in the electrocoagulation tank (3) by coagulation into a precipitate (31), treated water (32) from which the precipitate (31) is settled away, and suspended solids (33) floating on the surface of the treated water (32). Subsequently the precipitate (31) and the treated water (32) in the electrocoagulation tank (3) are discharged from the electrocoagulation tank (3) into the filter (6) to capture the precipitate (31) by the filter (6).
