PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus ensuring power saving.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus of an embodiment comprises: a fixing roller that includes a heating source, applies a heat to a to-be-printed object, and fixes a toner onto the to-be-printed object; a counter roller which faces the fixing roller such that the to-be-printed object is sandwiched between the fixing roller and the counter roller; a heat exchange roller which stores a heat storage material that can exhibit a phase change between a liquid phase and a solid phase; a sensitive unit that can sense a temperature of the fixing roller; and a drive unit that contacts the heat exchange roller with the fixing roller or separates the heat exchange roller from the fixing roller in response to the temperature of the fixing roller which has been sensed by the sensitive unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
