A workstation (40) for a packaging line comprises a machine (4) which carries out a particular action simultaneously on the packages (10) of a row of packages, using a tool (46) arranged above the level of the packages; and a transfer mechanism (31) for conveying simultaneously a row of packages to be processed (10b) to the machine (4) and a row of processed packages (10c) from the machine (4), the rows being parallel and the direction of transport of the packages being perpendicular to the direction of the rows. The transfer mechanism (31) comprises for this purpose a first and a second transport groups (31a, 31b) arranged transversely to the direction of advance of the rows of packages and actuated in a coordinated manner. At least the first or the second transport group (31a or 31b) is suspended at two opposite ends (32b) from respective moving parts (60) of the transfer mechanism (31) which are movable in respective, parallel planes of movement which do not intersect the vertical projection of the tool (45) of the machine (4). A modular packaging line (101, 102, 103) can comprise at least two workstations (40A, 40B) according to the invention linked by an intermittent advance conveyor (2), to which the second transport group (31b) of a first workstation (40A) delivers the rwo of processed packages (10c) and from which the first transport group (31a) of a second workstation (40B) takes the same row of packages for processing same. |
