Aqueous composition (I) comprises a fluoride ion generating agent (II) and a viscosifying agent (III), where the viscosity (measured at 25[deg]C with a viscometer Brokfield (RTM) LVT provided with a movable N[deg]1 turning at a speed of 30 turns per minute) is 50-5000 mPas. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a method of preparation of (I) comprises mixing water and (II) with agitation, mixing (III) to adjust the viscosity and optionally adding insoluble fillers (IV), surface-active agent (V) and/or water-soluble salt (VI); and (2) a process for glass obscuring comprises, immersing an object surface made of glass in (I) for 2-20 minutes (preferably 2-10 minutes).
