A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly for charging and discharging a current, a case having an opening in a direction intersecting a plane of the electrode assembly, and a cover for sealing the opening in the case which houses the electrode assembly therein, , wherein the case is in a polyhedral shape and the plane is formed to contact a plane having the widest area of the case.
