There is provided a kit comprising a module (10) and an electrically operated aerosol-generating system (50). The electrically operated aerosol-generating system (50) comprises an electric heater (60) for heating an aerosol-generating substrate, a supply of electrical energy, a data coupling (62), and a system attachment connector. The module (10) comprises a data connector (24) for connecting to the data coupling (62) of the electrically operated aerosol-generating system (50), and a module attachment connector for cooperating with the system attachment connector on the electrically operated aerosol-generating system (50) for attaching the module (10) to the electrically operated aerosol-generating system (50).
