PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target position information acquiring system and a target position information acquiring method capable of acquiring position information of a target on the ground from the sky without using a laser distance-measuring device. SOLUTION: In this target position information acquiring system 1, the position information of the target on the ground is acquired by using an image sensor 13 loaded on an unmanned aircraft 10. The system 1 is equipped with a barometric altimeter 11 and a GPS/INS 12 (position information acquiring means) for acquiring position information of the unmanned aircraft 10, a control device 15 (optical axis direction calculation means) for calculating optical axis direction information when viewing the target from the unmanned aircraft 10 based on attitude information of the unmanned aircraft 10 and angle information of the image sensor 13, a map collating device 21 (topographic information recording means) wherein altitude information of the topography is recorded, and a control device 24 (target position information calculation means) for calculating the position information of the target on the ground based on the position information of the unmanned aircraft 10, the optical axis direction information and the altitude information of the topography.
