PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply fit a workpiece to a vacuum holder, thereby eliminating the complicatedness of fitting the workpiece according to the form of the workpiece and the finally machined state. SOLUTION: A plurality of spherical recessed parts 4 are provided in the surface part of a fixing disk 2, and vertical suction holes 9 are provided at the bases thereof and connected to the internal horizontal suction holes 7a, 7d. An air piping plug 8b is fixed to outlets of the horizontal suction holes 7a, 7d and connected to a vacuum pump. A thin and easily bendable silicon sheet 3 is placed on the overall upper surface of the fixing disk 2, and the workpiece W is placed thereon. In machining, the vacuum pump is actuated to evacuate the recessed parts 4, the silicon sheet 3 is sucked to the spherical surfaces of the recessed parts 4 to heighten the degree of vacuum, so that the workpiece W is fixed to the fixing disk 2 through the silicon sheet 3.
