<p>The present invention concerns a spacing element (1) for metal surfacings comprising a central element (6), one end of which is terminated by a section (2) designed for fixing to a metal sheet (10) and the other end (3) of same by a section designed for fixing to a supporting structure (20) wherein the central element of the spacing element is made of elastic material. Moreover, the present invention concerns a method for installing metal sheets (10) for the surfacing of walls (20) which comprises the steps consisting of installing a plurality of upper and lower anchorages; fixing at least one spacing element (1) to a supporting structure; hoisting the metal sheet; fixing the upper part of the metal sheet to a plurality of upper anchorages; fixing the lower part of the metal sheet to a lower plurality of anchorages and tightening it in position; fixing the metal sheet to at least one spacing element; wherein the positioning of at least one spacing element to a supporting structure comprises the positioning of a spacing element made of elastic material.
