A device and method for chilling a volume of water. In a preferred embodiment, the device includes an external tank in the nature of a can having a generally closed bottom and a generally open top and an internal tank in the nature of a can having a generally open bottom and a generally closed top. The internal tank is inserted into the external tank and a helical fin is supported between the internal tank and the external tank. The helical fin defines a helical flow path in which an evaporator coil is arranged. An external cap connected to both the external tank and the internal tank provides openings for a water inlet, a water outlet, and a refrigeration inlet/outlet. The refrigeration inlet/outlet receives at least part of the evaporator coil. |
