<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal material for a separator whose contact resistance is small as well as manufacturing and processing costs are low. <P>SOLUTION: A metal material for the separator of fuel cells is formed by dispersing and fixing granular carbon particles and/or granular metal particles (except for alloy) on the surface of and in a base material.
