PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for super channel power pre-emphasis.SOLUTION: A method and system may adjust power levels of selected subcarriers of a super channel. The power pre-emphasis may be performed at a transmission stage by using a laser light source, a variable optical attenuator, or a wavelength selection switch (WSS). The power pre-emphasis may be performed in-line at a ROADM node. The power pre-emphasis may be performed by using feedback control on the basis of a receiver output. The power pre-emphasis may be performed by using feedforward control on the basis of optical path computation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
