A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to bend both ends of a bottom chassis to surround a lamp and divide the bottom chassis into first and second bottom chassis, thereby removing the necessity for a lamp cover, thereby reducing costs, thickness and weight of the LCD. A receiving unit mounts a light guide panel, optical sheet and reflection sheet. An inner side wall receives the light guide panel, the optical sheet and the reflection sheet. A lamp cover unit(302,304) surrounds a lamp according as both ends of the receiving unit are bent. A bottom chassis is divided into first and second bottom chassis. The first and second bottom chassis comprise the following parts. First and second receiving units(192,194) mount the light guide panel, the optical sheet and the reflection sheet. A first inner side wall(312) is vertical to a first receiving unit. A second inner side wall(314) is vertical to a second receiving unit. Openings(402,404,406,408) are exposed to connect a lamp electrode line, connected with the lamp, to the outside. |
