The present technique relates to a reception device, a reception method, a transmission device, and a transmission method, capable of flexibly supporting various operation modes.;A service package unit processes, on a per-service basis, using an IP address included in each of packets, a particular service and a shared service related to the particular service, among a plurality of services transmitted via a broadcast wave of digital broadcasting using an IP transmission scheme. Accordingly, it is possible to flexibly support various operation modes in the digital broadcasting using the IP transmission scheme. It would be possible, for example, to apply the present technique to a television receiver. |
