PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quietness by suppressing abutting sound generated when a pinion 3 is engaged with a ring gear 14, in a starter.SOLUTION: A lever 5 and a holder 6 can form or resolve a locking structure 54 regulating rotations of a pinion moving body. Torque of an electric motor is converted into thrust acting in an axial direction by a locking structure 54 and a screw spline, thereby moving a pinion moving body to one side in the axial direction. Therefore, without using the magnetic force of an electromagnetic solenoid, a pinion 3 can be engaged with a ring gear 14, so that abutting sound generated when the pinion 3 is engaged with the ring gear 14 is suppressed to improve quietness.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
