A composite bath tub 100 has upper and lower member 110, 120 of plastics material that together form an outer shell, and an inner core of filler within the shell. The inner core has a substantially uniform thickness. The filler may comprise a resin material that exhibits shear thinning and has a viscosity that allows the resin to flow between the upper and lower members without forming voids. The tub may include strengthening ribs, a plug hole and leg sockets. The upper and lower members may be formed from an acrylic material such as ABS. The filler material may be a composite formed from a polymer resin, a catalyser and one or more particulates such as limestone. A method of manufacturing a bath tub, including the steps of compressing and displacing the filler material between the upper and lower members and allowing it to cure, is also claimed. |
