<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the light quantity of light for forming an electrostatic latent image from being deviated from the range of automatic light quantity control. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus forms an electrostatic latent image of a test patch on a photoreceptor drum and detects the potential of the formed electrostatic latent image. The image forming apparatus finds a potential difference between the detected potential of the electrostatic latent image and the target potential of the electrostatic latent image, finds out the light quantity of light with which the photoreceptor drum 11K is irradiated to obtain the target potential from the potential difference and then sets a light source part so that the light of the found light quantity is outputted. Then the image forming apparatus judges whether the set light quantity is approximately the same as the lower limit of a light quantity range capable of performing automatic light quantity control or less, and when the set light quantity is approximately the same as the lower limit or less, changes the upper limit and lower limit of the light quantity range capable of performing the automatic light quantity control. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
