The device has a switching mechanism, which includes a switching lock, overload actuator, short circuit actuator and a contact interruption device. A combined actuating-and display unit is designed such that the switching position of the switching mechanism is displayed and/or actuated by rotation of the display unit. A balancing unit (433) is designed such that change of an installation position into a rotation position of the combined actuating and display unit is balanced. The balancing unit has a rotatable rod with a coding (450). An independent claim is also included for a device with an electromechanical switching device mounted on a top hat rail.
