A digital broadcast transmitter to transmit a plurality of supplementary data streams is provided, including a multiplexer (MUX) unit which generates a transmission stream by inserting the plurality of supplementary data streams into a normal data stream continuously in an alternating pattern, and an exciter unit which processes the transmission stream so that the plurality of supplementary data streams are distinguishably arranged in a plurality of areas constituting at least one transmission unit. Therefore, the plurality of supplementary data streams can be transferred with greater efficiency and with greater stability.
