Various embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for performing updates of credentials used in relation to RFID readers. As an example, some embodiments of the present invention provide methods for updating credentials capable of authorization to an RFID reader. Such methods include providing a cellular telephone that includes a memory, a cellular telephone interface, and an nfc interface. An access is received via the cellular telephone interface, and is stored to the memory. 1. A method for updating at least one of a plurality of radio-frequency identification (RFID) readers, the method comprising:
identifying a cellular telephone that is near an RFID reader to be updated, the cellular telephone including a memory, a cellular telephone interface, and near-field communication (NFC) interface; sending the RFID update to the cellular telephone near the RFID reader to be updated; receiving an RFID reader update at the cellular telephone via the cellular telephone interface, the RFID reader update including a first set of instructions operable to uniquely identify the RFID reader to be updated; storing the RFID reader update in the cellular telephone memory; initiating a communication session with an RFID reader via the NFC interface; requesting identification information from the RFID reader; comparing the received identification information to the first set of instructions to determine if the RFID reader should receive the update; and providing the RFID reader update to the RFID reader when the comparison determines that the RFID reader should be updated, wherein the RFID reader update is provided by the cellphone to the RFID reader for authorization.
