PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass plate and a glass plate producing apparatus that may reduce the heat radiated via a supporting member of a compact and may reduce a distortion due to heat creep properties of the compact.SOLUTION: A method for producing a glass plate according to the present invention is a method in which the glass plate is continuously produced by overflowing a fused glass from an upper edge surface of a compact 52, dividing it and joining it at a lower edge of the compact 52. The compact 52 is disposed via support members 54a, 54b and insulation members 56a, 56b by applying forces in the lengthwise direction at the lengthwise both ends of the compact 52. The support members 54a, 54b are brought into contact with the compact 52. The insulation members 56a, 56b are not brought into contact with the compact 52 but are brought into contact with the support members 54a, 54b. The insulation members 56a, 56b have the smaller heat conductivity than those of the support members 54a, 54b and have the compression strength of 50 MPa or more. |
