PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device which can light a discharge lamp with stability even when the equivalent impedance of the discharge tube changes in dimming light for a low luminous flux. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises a high frequency power source 1 supplying a high frequency power to a discharge lamp La through a first impedance element Z1, a DC power source 2 applying a DC voltage to the discharge lamp La through a second impedance element Z2, a dimming control circuit 3 dimming the discharge lamp La by changing a power supplied to the discharge lamp La, a DC voltage detection circuit detecting a DC component of the voltage applied to the discharge lamp La, and an output correcting means 5 correcting the power supplied to the discharge lamp La in response to the detection value of the DC voltage detection circuit.
