FOAM MOLDING AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

Foamable resin particles are heated at a fusion bonding temperature therefor in the presence of heated steam and thereafter, while controlling a foam quantity, there are performed fusion bonding and cooling of foam cells. It is preferred that control of the foam quantity be carried out by controlling of the pressure to foamable resin particles in a mold. There is produced a foam molding wherein foam cells adjacent to each other at contact surfaces are bonded to each other by softening fusion of themselves. In this foam molding, three-dimensional communicating pores of 10 to 40% volume porosity are provided in the foam cells, and the foam molding has a bending critical strength of at least 10 N. Foam moldings of strong pore structure can be obtained without the use of adhesive resin.
