PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for authentication of the validity of a user accessing the encryption data stored in a client terminal, on the server side, and management of the use of the encryption data based on the authentication results.SOLUTION: In a remote authentication system 1, a remote authentication server 4 performs mutual authentication with an authentication device 3 owned by a user, as personal authentication, via a client terminal 2, while furthermore, authenticates a legitimate user granted with the access right to an encryption file system 21, by determining whether or not this user is a legitimate user granted with the access right to the encryption file system 21. When notified of the success of personal authentication from the remote authentication server 4, the authentication device 3 permits reading of a mount key 38, and the client terminal 2 mounts the encryption file system 21, by using the mount key 38, read out from the authentication device 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
