The machine (1) has a circular griping carriage (8), with which a sheet (6) is gripped at a gripper edge (15) using a gripper that is fastened at the gripper carriage, and a punching station (2), in which an edge of the gripper edge is separatable from the sheet. An ejector station (24) is provided for ejecting the girpper edge from the gripper and contains a blower, which impinges the air flow at the gripper edge. The gripper carriage is led in a circular path across a conveyor (17).
