THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording medium which has light fade stability required for a bar code and is also capable of forming a printed image of high precision.

SOLUTION: The thermal transfer recording medium has at least a release layer and a colored ink layer in this sequence on one side of a base and contains a supercooled substance in the release layer. The supercooled substance is polycaprolactone. The release layer contains polyethylene wax of 50-95 wt.% having a melting point of 100°C or above. Carnauba wax of 50-100 wt.% is contained as a binder of the colored ink layer.
