<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new electron source electrode which operates in a liquid or a liquid phase substance unlike in a conventional electron source, and also to provide an in-liquid emission device provided with the electrode and a hydrogen generating method. <P>SOLUTION: The electron source electrode which operates independently in a liquid or a liquid phase substance is provided with: a substrate 1 with a backplate 2; an electron drift layer formed on the substrate 1 or on a surface side part of the substrate 1; an electron tunnel layer, or an assembled layer 4 of them; and a surface electrode 3 formed on the electron drift layer, the electron tunnel layer or the assembled layer 4 of them. The electron source electrode is covered by a covering material 5 so that at least an electron-emitting face of the surface electrode 3 is exposed and emits electrons from the electron-emitting face of the surface electrode 3 contacting liquid or liquid phase substance, into liquid or liquid phase substance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
