PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which uses a lead with its cost suppressed low, while suppressing a decease in reflectivity.SOLUTION: A light emitting device includes: a package including a lead and a molded resin which holds the lead; a light emitting element placed on the package; and a sealing member which seals the light emitting element. The lead includes a metal plate and plating formed on a surface of the metal plate. The plating includes: first plating provided on an upper surface of the lead; and second plating provided on a lower surface of the lead.
