PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deterioration in the performance of a system during the occurrence of an unrecoverable failure in an interface with an input/output device.SOLUTION: An interface failure detection device is connected with an external input/output device that issues a connection confirmation response to a connection confirmation instruction to monitor the connection with an input/output interface, and an information processing device including a processor, a main storage, control means for controlling the input/output interface that controls communication between the processor and the input/output device, a cushioning buffer for temporarily holding instructions or responses between the processor and the main storage and control means, and diagnosis means for performing failure recovery processing for the input/output device. The interface failure detection device comprises: means for periodically issuing a connection confirmation instruction; means for determining whether any instruction is staying in the cushioning buffer; and means for notifying device diagnosis means of the occurrence of an unrecoverable failure in the input/output interface if any instruction is staying and the input/output interface is not operationally connected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
