PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AD converter having a wide conversion range, and high applicability of automated design technology.SOLUTION: An AD converter for converting an input voltage into an output code includes a comparator 111 divided into a plurality of comparator groups 115, and comparing the input voltage with a reference voltage for each comparator group 115, an adder 119 for outputting the number of comparators 111 indicating the same comparison results, a reference voltage generator 120 generating the reference voltage for each comparator group 115, and a controller 140. Under control of the controller 140, the reference voltage different for each comparator group 115 is generated, a new reference voltage is determined depending on the output from the adder 119 when the input voltage is compared with the reference voltage different for each comparator group 115, the same new reference voltage is generated from all comparator groups 115, and then the output code is generated depending on the output from the adder 119 when the input voltage is compared with the new reference voltage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
