PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing molecular sieve carbon simply at low cost.

SOLUTION: The method for producing molecular sieve carbon comprises carbonizing a natural wood material in an inert atmosphere. Preferably, a woody part or a bark part of Japanese cedar or Japanese cypress is used as the natural wood material, and preferably, scrap wood of a natural tree is used as the natural wood material. The carbonization temperature is preferably 500-1,000°C.
