PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions for increasing transport of agents across the blood brain barrier while allowing their activity once across the barrier to remain substantially intact.SOLUTION: A composition contains a substance covalently bonded to a human insulin receptor monoclonal antibody (HIRMAb) at the amino terminus, the substance being selected from the group consisting of a glia cell derived-neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and erythropoietin (EPO), the composition increasing the concentration of the substance within a brain by at least 5 ng/g on the average after peripheral administration, the substance binding a receptor to induce a neuroprotective action, the antibody and the substance respectively maintaining at least 30% of their activities as compared with the activity as separate entities.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
