PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a novel copolymer effective as a binder resin or pigment dispersion resin; an aqueous ink based on the same; and an ink cartridge.SOLUTION: A copolymer includes structure units represented by the general formula (I) and the general formula (II). (In the general formulas (I) and (II), R1 and R2 each represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, X represents a hydrogen atom or a cation, and L represents an alkylene group having 2 to 18 carbon atoms.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
