<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of improving heat insulation between a lower portion of a tank liable to be exposed to a low temperature and a pipe connected with the lower portion, and outside air, and to simplify work for heat insulation. <P>SOLUTION: In this water heater 1, a bottom of the tank 31 is covered with a bottom heat insulating material 511 formed of polystyrene foam and a second heat insulating material 52 formed of wool. The bottom heat insulating material 511 has a cut 511b so that it does not interfere with a pipe connecting portion 60 at the bottom of the tank 31 and a pipe 70 connected with the pipe connecting portion.
