PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the outlines of various shapes to be smoothened in a short processing time.SOLUTION: In the resolution before resolution conversion, an interpolation end point detector 15 (a) searches for, from a corner pixel, a first target pixel other than pixels belonging to an edge of a first orientation corresponding to an arrangement pattern of two pixels out of four neighboring pixels of the corner pixel in a first direction corresponding to the arrangement pattern, (b) when the first target pixel is found, searches for a second target pixel other than pixels belonging to an edge of a second orientation corresponding to the arrangement pattern of the found first target pixel in a second direction corresponding to the arrangement pattern, and (c) upon finding the second target pixel, sets the above corner pixel and the second target pixel as interpolation end points when the arrangement patterns of the found second target pixel and the above corner pixel are the same. In the resolution after the resolution conversion, interpolation of an enlarged image is performed so that pixels through which an interpolation line connecting the interpolation end points passes becomes an edge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
