PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the thickness of a recording and/or reproducing device main body and to conduct the movement of a magnetic head mechanism or ejection of a cartridge by a single driving power source. SOLUTION: The recording and/or reproducing device comprises a holder 6 which holds a recording medium cartridge 5; a base chassis 7 which is arranged to oppose the holder 6 and is provided to the side where a rotary driving mechanism 59 and an optical pickup device 64 are opposed to the holder 6; a slider 8 which attaches and detaches a recording medium 4 to and from the rotary driving mechanism 59 by closing and separating at least one of the holder 6 or the base chassis 7 to the other; an ejection member 147 in which rotation toward an ejection direction of the recording cartridge 5 is controlled by the slider 8; a slide lever 163 which slides the slider 8; a gear mechanism 224 which is engaged with the slide lever 163 and drives the slider lever 163; and a driving motor 222 which drives the gear mechanism 224. In the recording and/or reproducing device, the slider 8 is slid by the slide lever 163 which receives driving force of the driving motor 222 through the gear mechanism 224, the ejection member 147 is rotated and the recording medium cartridge 5 is ejected.
