PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine that can suppress corrosion of a cylinder wall surface caused by generation of condensate water.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine including an EGR device for recirculating part of exhaust gas in an intake passage as EGR gas includes: a cylinder liner provided in each cylinder of the internal combustion engine and having a dimple formed on an inner peripheral surface thereof; a water jacket that is provided on the outer periphery of the cylinder liner and in which the width of a flow passage on the outer periphery of a portion of the cylinder liner having the dimple formed thereon is made wider than that on the outer periphery of a portion of the cylinder liner without a dimple formed thereon; an electric water pump for circulating cooling water in the water jacket; and a control device for driving the electric water pump to make a wall surface temperature of the cylinder liner lower than a dew point temperature of the EGR gas after the internal combustion engine is stopped.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
