PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an identification information update method, with which identification information for identifying a genuine toner container can be easily updated.SOLUTION: An identification information creation part 203 creates genuine product identification information showing a genuine toner container on the basis of an image input thereto. An identification information update part 204 updates registered genuine product identification information stored in a specific memory by using the created genuine product identification information. A genuine product determination part 208, when a toner container is replaced, determines whether the toner container is a genuine product on the basis of individual identification information on the replace toner container and the updated genuine product identification information. A display reception part 205 displays, to a user, whether the toner container is a genuine product on the basis of a result of the determination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
