PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can reliably suppress the occurrence of blank printing by checking the presence/absence of ink before printing, and suppress reduction in throughput and influence on ink.SOLUTION: A printer 110 to which an ink tank 11 storing ink IK is fixed and which is configured so that a user can supply the ink IK to the ink tank 11 comprises: a sensor 60 which detects whether or not there is the ink IK at a prescribed position in the ink tank 11; a control unit 40 which executes ink detection by the sensor 60; a consumption amount calculation unit 42 which calculates a consumption amount of the ink IK consumed from the ink tank 11; and a storage unit 50 which updates and stores the consumption amount of ink IK calculated by the consumption amount calculation unit 42. The control unit 40 executes ink detection after a first prescribed amount of the ink IK is consumed when a print job is executed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
