The method includes determining illumination heat and illumination energy for the room and determining climate energy for the room. The method includes determining a total room energy as a function of the window blinds tilt angles based on the climate energy, illumination energy, and predicted room temperatures. The method includes determining an optimal blind tilt angle that minimizes the total room energy at each of the time intervals and controlling the tilt angles of window blinds according to the optimal blind tilt angle.

A method for integrated room management in a building management system, the method performed by a data processing system and comprising: determining a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) for a room in a building, based on the geographic location of the room, at a plurality of time intervals; determining predicted room temperatures for the room at the plurality of time intervals based on the SHGC and a plurality of window blinds tilt angles; determining illumination heat and illumination energy for the room, at each window blinds tilt angle and at each time interval, based on an exterior illumination level for each window blinds tilt angle, artificial lighting energy consumed, and artificial lighting heat produced to bring the room to a predetermined illumination level; determining climate energy, at each of the time intervals, required to maintain the room at a predetermined temperature based on the predicted room temperatures and the illumination heat at each of the time intervals; determining a total room energy at each of the time intervals as a function of the window blinds tilt angles based on the climate energy, illumination energy, and predicted room temperatures; determining, from the total room energy, an optimal blind tilt angle at each of the time intervals, wherein the optimal blind tilt angle minimizes the total room energy at each of the time intervals; and controlling the tilt angles of window blinds in the room at each of the time intervals according to the optimal blind tilt angle, unless there is an override condition.
