PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device with improved capability of executing a necessary driving support control while precisely suppressing execution of an unnecessary driving support control when detection of objects by a radar becomes unable.SOLUTION: The driving support device has a radar having a detection area at front or rear side of an own vehicle for detecting any object moving within the detection area and a controller which executes a driving support control to reduce a risk of collision between an object and the own vehicle when prescribed criteria are satisfied in a state in which the radar is detecting the object. The controller maintains a state in which the driving support control is executable only during a prescribed time period or only within a prescribed travel distance of the own vehicle on the basis of object information obtained while the radar was continuously detecting the object within a first area which is an area apart from the own vehicle by a prescribed distance or greater in the own vehicle lateral direction in the detection area in the case where the radar was continuously detecting the object in the first area and then it is determined that the object has entered a second area which is an area apart from the own vehicle by a distance less than the prescribed distance in its lateral direction in the detection area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
