摘要	<p>An IPM motor system comprises a stator having a slot, an IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) motor having a rotator with poles, and a controller for driving/controlling the rotator with respect to the stator. The estimation accuracy of the initial angular position of the rotator with respect to the stator is so determined as to be approximately equal to the angle step accuracy of the stable position of the rotator with respect to the stator attributed to the combination of the number of poles and the number of slots. Thus, an inexpensive IPM motor system with high drive efficiency and a method for controlling the IPM motor system are provided.</p>
