Separating components (14) raise a printed sheet (28) in part in a receiving region (66) and below gripper and separating movement paths (U), such that the printed sheet can be gripped by grippers (12). The separating components comprise paddles (18) which engage beneath and raise the edge (30) of the printed sheet which in part rests on a further printed sheet or on a bearing surface. The grippers are mounted to move in a gripper movement direction along the gripper movement path. The separating components, which are independent of the grippers, are mounted to move in a separating movement direction along the separating movement path. The gripper movement path and the separating movement path extend through the receiving region.
