TERMINAL FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD

A terminal forming apparatus and a terminal forming method are provided to form joining parts of a terminal on which bent members are formed in the direction that is parallel and opposite to the extending direction of upright walls of the terminal. A terminal forming apparatus comprises: a bottom mold holder(10) having a bottom mold retainer(14); a top mold holder(30) formed above the bottom mold holder, lifted relatively to the bottom mold holder, and equipped with a top mold retainer(34); a swaging die(20) and a swaging punch(40) respectively installed at positions corresponding to those of the bottom and top mold retainers to process portions to be joining parts in a flat shape; a first bent member die(22) and a first bent member punch(42) respectively installed at positions corresponding to those of the bottom and top mold retainers to form both ends of the portions to be the joining parts such that parallel extending bent members on the both ends of the portions to be the joining parts are perpendicular to portions to be upright walls; a base die(24) and a base punch(44) respectively installed at positions corresponding to those of the bottom and top mold retainers to bend the portions to be the upright walls to a predetermined angle relative to a base; an upright wall die(26) and an upright wall punch(46) respectively installed at positions corresponding to those of the bottom and top mold retainers to bend the portions to be the upright walls at a right angle relative to the base; and a second bent member die(28) and a second bent member punch(48) installed at positions corresponding to those of the bottom and top mold retainers to bend portions to be parallel extending bent members such that the portions to be parallel extending bent members extend in the parallel opposite direction relative to the portions to be the upright walls.
