The exhaust system (1) comprises a component (15), a negative pressure generating unit (6), and a hollow casing (2,2') partially surrounding the component. An intermediate chamber (3,3') is provided, which is surrounded and pressure-sealed by the walls of the hollow casing. The intermediate chamber is fluidically connected with the negative pressure generating unit by a vacuum connection line (5) of the component. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an exhaust system. |
