PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neutral base paper for an album, having excellent sizing properties for making processing suitability to a paperboard for the album good, and excellent weather resistance hardly causing deterioration and discoloration to preserve photograph or the like in a good state over a long period. SOLUTION: The neutral base paper for the album, having the paper layer composed of a single layer or a multiple layer has the front layer and/or the back layer of a colored layer colored by adding a dye in the inside and regulated so that the pH of face of the colored layer may be 6.0-7.5. A dye fixer, a sizing agent and a size fixer are added to the colored layer. Preferably, a cationic material is added as the dye fixer, and a cationic synthetic sizing agent is added to the colored layer as the sizing agent. Aluminium sulfate of 0-1 wt.% is also added to the colored layer. The front and back surface of the neutral base paper for the album have≤50 g/m<SP>2</SP>water absorption degree by a cylinder plate method, and the strength of internal connection is≥147 N/(25 mm)<SP>2</SP>.
