PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner and a color image forming apparatus capable of highly accurately and inexpensively preventing out of color registration caused by a change in temperature in a housing. SOLUTION: When the temperature rises in the housing 42, the timing to start printing is made earlier by rotating an SOS mirror 60 around a supporting part 64 in the direction in which detection of a synchronous signal is made earlier to detect a light beam by an SOS sensor 62 earlier. When the temperature falls in the housing 42, on the other hand, the timing to start printing is delayed by rotating the SOS mirror 60 around the supporting part 64 in the direction in which detection of a synchronous signal is delayed to detect the light beam by the SOS sensor 62 later. Thus, magnification errors caused when the temperature changes in the housing 42 can be distributed to a printing start side and a printing termination side, and the magnification errors can be made small. The out of color registration caused by changes in temperature in the housing 42 therefore can be made invisible and image quality can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
