A molten steel level detecting apparatus provided in a crystallizating device of a casting machine includes a sensor (101), signal cables (102), and a signal processor. The sensor (101) contains a transmitting coil (p1), a receiving coil (s1), and a bucking coil (c1) which are embedded in each other. The sensor (101) can be installed at the nozzle of the copper duct of the crystallizating device (103), or installed on the upper flange (103a) of the crystallizating device (103), or installed on the top of the nozzle of the copper duct of the crystallizating device (103).
